Baltimore, Godparents and Aging with Run Your World {5}

We’re on iTunes! 🙂 Soon we should be on Stitcher too! Follow us. Check out the link on the right.

This week on Run Your World, Kweyah and April discuss the Baltimore riots. Not only do we talk about what’s going on, what topics are being avoided, we also talk about potential solutions to the continuing issue of police brutality and deaths of people in their custody.

Next, we talk a little about the roles of a Godparent. What are they? What should they be? And how much do you think a Godparent should do to bridge a gap in parenting.

Finally, we talk about a website that’s judging people’s ages: www.how-old.net. It’s a website sweeping the nation and the results are not always positive.

    My boys each have godparents, but for us, they are just a technicality. They are not people I would choose to raise them, you know?

  2. I have two Goddaughters, but my son doesn’t have any Godparents. I never thought of it as a necessity, but I could see it being necessary.

  3. Sounds like a really great broadcast! Stuff like this needs to be talked about… My kids heard quite a bit about police brutality so have asked a lot!

  4. Those are some great topics! Aging is a sensitive issue for me right now …. getting too close to 40 and pulling out too many gray hairs that I know I won’t be able to keep up with at some point. I am curious what the site would guess but not sure I really want to know. :/

    I was born in Baltimore and lived in Annapolis all my life. So sad what happened and I’m so glad that people are helping to repair Bmore.

    I never even think about the term Godparent anymore, not sure why. I now my boys do not have one. As for the riots in Baltimore, I am so sick of seeing people riot and destroying so much – it solves nothing and honestly just creates more turmoil and more issues. I am also sick of seeing everyone slander every police officer as if they are all monsters – there is good and bad in all professions and people and yet innocent officers that are upholding the law are getting killed daily trying to protect us – nobody riots.

  7. I’m a god parent. it’s a role that just keeps getting better and better. My goddaughter just had a little one of her own, so sweet!

  8. We don’t have a culture of Godparents. If something happens either the grandparents or the maternal uncles have to take care of the kids.
