#AskAwayFriday {TV Edition}

Now I understand why parents are so ready for their kids to go back to school in the fall. As much as I love my children, they love to torment each other, which drives me INSANE! One pushes the other’s buttons and the other reciprocates. I love the good times, when they are playing together, working towards a common goal, but my goodness, when Bee is tired or Bunny is in a “mood”, every thing kinda sucks.

So, now I’m excited for my reprieve… #AskAwayFriday is here! For those who don’t know, I’m somewhat of a television addict. It’s not that I sit for hours watching television, but it’s ALWAYS on. I don’t like the silence because my mind wanders in 100 different directions and for some reason, I end up overwhelmed and nothing gets done.

I’ve had some people ask me some questions about what I watch and who I like. I’ll give credit for those I remember, but for the others… let me know which ones you’ve asked and I’ll update!

AAF TV Edition

Here’s #AskAwayFriday TV Edition!

1. What TV show are you most looking forward to seeing new episodes in the fall? {Sonya K} I think the most highly anticipated show is Scandal. I wonder how they get rid of Christopher Short and where the story will go next with everyone being so cutthroat. I’m also looking forward to Shonda Rhimes new show. It’s hard for me to anticipate shows like in the past because I think the summer lineup has been pretty good. Two Real Housewives shows seem to be running each week, Motive and Black Box are my summer favorites.

2. I know you are a Real Housewives of Atlanta fan, so do you think Phaedra knew about he husband’s scam? Or at the very least should she have been suspicious? {Sonya K} No, I don’t think she knew about his scam. Maybe she should have been suspicious, but honestly, I think Phaedra doesn’t pay any attention to her husband at all. She doesn’t particularly respect him and she’s always talking about her J-O-B-S…. I could very well see her set him up several corporations and figure “if it goes well, good; if it doesn’t, oh well, I’m bringing home the bacon”.

3. With 19 recorded divorces, do you think Real Housewives destroy a marriage? No. There are many still strong and functioning marriages on the shows. I think the ones that led to divorce were already on the rocks, then when you add insult to injury, where your life is played back to you, then people are tweeting you and facebooking you their opinion all day about how you treat your spouse or how they treated you, a struggling marriage doesn’t stand a chance. Even though there are 19 divorces, there at least that many marriages still thriving. It’s along the overall country’s 50% divorce rate.

4. Who’s your favorite housewife? NeNe. I didn’t like her as much this season, but overall, I think she’s done what almost every housewife starts out to do ~ become a household name. For people who don’t even watch the Housewives, they were introduced to her on Glee and Dancing with the Stars, she’s starting a clothing line, she produced her own wedding spinoff, and she wears her heart on her sleeve. She doesn’t pretend for anyone and the one thing you can’t call her is fake.

5. Who’s your least favorite housewife? For almost the exact opposite reason, Kenya. After watching her on the show for three seasons now, I don’t know who she is as a person. People may call her real, but all season, she only filmed with one “friend” and the rest is her family that if you pay attention, doesn’t speak kindly about. She throws a lot of shade, which can be entertaining, but overall she’s really evasive about answering any substantive questions. She may have gotten her little workout DVD done, but who knows how much business was killed because people saw that if your deal goes south, she may just do it anyway without you. When I blog about RHOA, I rarely talk about her, just enough to give the facts, because there’s really nothing about what’s going on in her life except talking about others, especially Phaedra.

6. Do you watch competition shows? If so, which ones? I watch the cooking ones ~ Hell’s Kitchen, Top Chef and MasterChef. The first two aren’t as interesting to me any more, although I struggle to just “Let them go”. I find each new season, the contestants are whinier and younger. I don’t know if they’re as talented because I can’t taste their food, but the drama in the shows seem to be more about not liking each other, and not understanding why they’re there. If I were to go on a cooking show, if I were talented enough to go on, I would spend days and weeks preparing for the intensity, having friends and partners throwing out weird challenges or doing the random refrigerator challenges. Every season, it’s like people are surprised about challenges that have happened every season. Oh, I like design shows like Design Star and Project Runway too, but I haven’t caught those in a while.

7. Will you ever go on a reality show? I guess I actually have. Back in college, I went on Supermarket Sweep. My friend and I didn’t win, but we were very close, but didn’t win. I can’t remember how close at this time though. I would do it again. I actually tried out for another show in college, I think it was the Real World, but I don’t remember that either. I doubt I could go on a show like Real Housewives show because my husband would not be a party to it at all!

8. What types of shows do you like best? I tend to watch more dramas than other shows. I used to be a Law & Order fanatic. I watched the first 13 or so seasons religiously. I never got into SVU, and I actually think it’s disturbing that the most popular show is the one where kids are abused and women are raped. But that’s just my opinion.

9. Do you watch daytime television? If so, what? I only really watch one show during the day ~ the Wendy Williams Show. I typically don’t even watch the whole thing, but she seems to be up to date on all the juicy gossip in her Hot Topics. She even talks about things she doesn’t like to cover. I set up my DVR and watch it when I get the chance. Soap operas move way to slow for me, and did even back when my grandmother used to watch Days of our Lives when I was a kid. I’m not that big in watching interviews of people, unless it’s more than just promoting a show. I love WW’s Hot Topics, but I find Ask Wendy pretty repetitive… communicate or leave it alone. She openly admits that she’s black and white, and I find her answers to Ask Wendy very black and white.

10. What about night? Do you have any late night talk show favorites? I used to be a diligent watcher of the Daily Show and the Colbert Report, but I’m not sure what happened, after we moved, I haven’t watched any of it. I’ll occasionally catch it “On Demand”, but definitely not as consistently as before. I don’t like the rushed nature of network night time shows, rushing through a bunch of questions. When I do catch one of the shows, it’s normally just the

  1. I'm pretty new so I'm not sure what AAF is. I was doing blog hops and I always try to visit the hosts and other bloggers. You were one of them, but I honestly don't remember which hop it was!

    1. LOL! No worries. If you want to find out more about AskAwayFriday, I'll be happy to share with you. Feel free to email me. Otherwise, have an awesome week!

  2. tamaralikecamera

I still have to watch Scandal. I do love Top Chef but I got bored of it. I wonder if it changed or did I? You say something similar.
Never seen MasterChef but I want to watch it!

    1. Same here. I used to love it, now I'm lucky if I even catch it to put it on my DVR. The next season of Top Chef showcases previous Top Chefs. I might check it out. MasterChef is good because they are amateur chefs. Although I really liked the auditions in previous seasons which they didn't do this season.

  3. I used to love watching Supermarket Sweep- so cool that you were a contestant! I've been in the audience of Who Wants to be a Millionaire, the Newlywed Game, and the Daily Show, but I've never been a contestant.
Winter is usually more of a TV-watching time for me, although we did just start watching The Strain. Super weird and sort of gross, but I like disease/virus-related stuff.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

    1. Being in a new area, with only one car, I'm sure that it's on more now than in the past. When you're out and about, you can't really watch it. Oh, I would love to be in the audience of the Daily Show!

  4. I used to be the BIGGEST Real Housewife fan but after the table topple and the drama that followed I kinda stopped watching…LOL Perhaps I will play catch up a bit with the NJ Ladies 🙂

    1. NJ got real crazy and then calmed down. Now, the drama is between two new people… all the old people seem to be getting along. We'll see. For some reason, I'll keep watching even if I don't like it anymore. LOL

    1. I can't watch Extreme Weight Loss without wishing I was thrust into it. I know I'd be really successful in that stressful environment!

  5. Love this! I have actually never seen Scandal. My addiction for tv are things like Doctor Who and the new Starz Original, Outlander, which is fabulous! Last summer, I became addicted to the show Preachers of LA, and am seriously enjoying the second season! I also got into a show called Chrisley Knows Best, which is quite funny. I do also tend to watch things like Cupcake Wars and Donut Showdown, as well as many DIY Home Improvement shows. I used to watch Hell's Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares, but I agree that they have gotten somwhat redundant over the years. Have a great week, April!

    1. A few of my good friends are into Doctor Who, but I'm one of those people who don't jump in in the middle. I'm trying to finish up so many series from the start, I haven't gotten to it. I like Preachers of LA too! I find Deitrick hurt and sad. I know that a lot of his anger comes from that. I think he feels that so many people turned on him when his now-wife got pregnant, he feels in the throws of fire all the time.

  6. I don’t watch Real Housewives but I have some friends that are addicted to it. It seems like a fun show.

  7. I’m an empty nester unless my kitten counts. And she should because she torments my toes with her teeth while I’m trying to work. I always have my TVs on as well but I usually only sit down to watch a few shows. This was a neat post and I’d love to participate in it sometime.

  8. I used to watch a lot of reality shows until I started getting into Netflix. There have been so many new shows on TV that I haven’t even seen!

  9. So fun! I love question and answer posts, they are so fun to read! I love tv, but rarely watch it anymore. I must make time for myself!

  10. It’s funny how tv habits change, isn’t it? I used to watch late night tv. Now I go to bed when the kids do, lol, so I rarely catch shows.

  11. I have not been watching television lately because of too much work. The only time I get to watch is when my husband watches the news in our room.

  12. I was so excited to see AskAwayFriday in your title! Yay! I am totally having SCANDAL withdrawals and miss all of my fave fall shows…summer tv is no fun at all LOL
