Good Friday everyone! Happy to be here. Another week in the ground and I’m happy to say that I’m as caught up as I hope to be on a Thursday night. Both this post and my review of Creative Style is complete, the house is relatively clean and I am patiently waiting for my pizza delivery. Why is it going to take 45 minutes on a Thursday night? I wish I would’ve ordered earlier.
Anyway, yes, I’m eating pizza with my new eating habits. I can happily report that I can keep any desire to eat pizza down to two Papa John’s slices. I even did ONE slice a couple of weeks ago. It really covers my “bad carbs” for the entire day, since I’ve had half a cup of oatmeal for breakfast, a Shakeology shake for snack and grilled chicken breasts and broccoli for lunch. I’m kinda hungry now, but pairing the pizza with asparagus. Have you had those two together? I haven’t, so I’ll tell you how it goes. I even resisted the buy two pizzas plus a soda for about $7 more. Man, two pizzas and a soda for $22 is an awesome deal. I can promise no one needs that much pizza in the house.
Wow, I got on a little sidetracked… now on to #AskAwayFriday!
This week, I exchange questions with a busy-busy woman, who is a working mother (outside of the home), that just went back to work and has jumped in with both feet! I welcome Lanaya from Raising Reagan, the only blogger that I have met face to face. She’s a wonderful lady, as open and happy as she is on her blog and I’m happy to call her my friend.
- I know as a fellow Scandal junkie we are on pins and needles about the return of, let’s face it, the best drama on TV. Do you think Do you think Liv and Jake are going to be together?
I think Liv will go through a series of men because her true love is in the White House. If they do get together, it will only be temporary because I don’t think they’ve expended the love triangle yet. The beginning of the season with Fitz clinging to Mel will probably last at least half a season before they’re back on again.
- Speaking of shows .. I have never been able to get into the show Glee. But it’s such a rage. Are you a fan? Why or Why not?
As a former show choir singer, YES! I love the idea of it. But I actually like it more because it shows the problems with some of the outsiders, but how they become productive members of society as adults… and ultimately, it DOES get better. I thought they were going to continue the show in high school, but I think it was a much better decision to show them grown up and seeing what happens after.
- Comedies or Dramas
Dramas definitely. I have to be the mood for comedy. I think it’s because I “multi-task”, which means that I have my television going in the background and comedies require you to sit and watch to “get it”, and if you don’t, it’s not really funny, it’s just a drama…. comedy without the laughs.
- I’ve noticed your reviews on your blog are really picking up! Lucky girl. J What is one of the best products you have reviewed recently and why?
Yes, I’m so happy for it and the opportunity. I’m glad that the companies want me to review multiple products. Actually, I think the Turtlemeter is my favorite so far… mostly because I literally use it every day. I am constantly having to add cold water to the kids bathwater because I like it so hot. Even when I think I’ve got it right, it’s still too hot. Their bathwater feels very cold to me. And the company is great!
- When you finally hit your goal weight .. do you think you’ll change the name of your blog?
That actually might happen soon. I’m just trying to figure out what I want to call it. I’ve been tossing around a few different ideas, considering this blog is way more than just weight loss and it has been for a very long time. I already have my name purchased… “April Noelle”. I’m also considering starting a blog that’s way beyond “me”, something more about the “modern woman”. I don’t know if I’ll have the energy to do both, if I decide to do that one. Right now, I’m working on a devotional. Once I finish this, I an concentrate on making that decision.
- What is one of your favorite link parties that you are involved with? What makes it different from other ones that you have joined in?
I’d have to say I’m partial to the one I started ~ Creative Style. I enjoy testing myself to do more, to help it grow, see what works, what doesn’t, what I need to do to make it better. I also like the combination of having blogs and social media links, so that not only can you grow your blog, you can grow your social media too!
I also like #AskAwayFriday because it forces me to talk about myself. This is hard because I don’t talk about myself in my personal life. I don’t think many people know much about me. I mean, there’s the regular stuff, complaining about lack of sleep and being frustrated with my husband, but really opening up and being vulnerable is very hard for me because I have been hurt extremely bad by people I was supposed to trust and love. Those private moments, private discussions ended up on display… a small display, but I quickly learned the way to keep a secret between three people is if two of them are dead… or my case, not tell anyone. So, #AAF doesn’t divulge my deepest darkest secret, but it does get me to be more comfortable with opening up and being vulnerable… like answering this question here.
I think the timing of all of the hops at once is biting me though because now with three children, I rarely get time alone… especially not time with a computer in my hands.
- I know you enjoy a nice cocktail every once in a while .. What is one that you are craving right now?
I think you’ll like this one. I was trying to think of a low calorie margarita. I had some tequila in the cabinet and my taste buds haven’t liked the mixes for some time. So, thanks for a place to talk about this one. I think it’s delicious and less calories than a glass of wine. Let me know if you enjoy Sparkling Tequila.
- I know you watch Cooking shows too. Have you ever been so inspired by a dish you saw on TV that you made it?
LOL! My husband would laugh at this question. For the first several years, I would watch cooking shows constantly, hoping one would inspire me to get into the kitchen. Although the food looked good, I was intimidated. I’m still intimadated. In my mind, if I don’t follow the recipe and I fail, then I just kinda suck at cooking. If I follow the directions and fail (as I have done), then there’s really no excuse. I feel completely deflated. My husband is really the only person who I let taste my cooking and he can openly critique.
- What is the first thing you do when you get out of bed in the morning?
That’s a hard one. I think most days, it’s grab my cell: check email, schedule Triberr messages, and see if any of the kids are awake. If they are all sleep, then I may go back to sleep, turn on the TV, go online for more complex email responses, respond to comments, add new post.
10. What is the last thing you do before you get into bed at night?
That’s a bit easier… it’s a tie between watching television and playing Candy Crush. Normally my DVR is a bit packed and there are many shows that don’t make my cut, and often I have to cut some out.
That’s it for this week’s #AskAwayFriday! Check out some of my older posts HERE! Feel free to contact me if you’d like to jump in!
