Traveling with #TuesdayTopics

TTround4

I don’t travel nearly as much as I want to.

I have a travel bag that stays packed and ready to go for when I do… Makes it so much easier to get out of the door, without forgetting anything. Buying an extra one of these is easier to buy it at home, than getting stuck out without it.

My bag has:

  • Toothbrush
  • Toothpaste
  • Shampoo
  • Conditioner
  • Floss
  • Comb
  • Brush
  • Foundation
  • Lip Gloss
  • Shower Cap
  • Hair clips
  • Flat iron

I have this to toss in my carry on so that I never have to think about it. I have a separate one for my husband and family for when all of us travel together. That way, even if my checked bag gets lost, I still have my essentials.

I also need my phone. I can always get my map there. I’m pretty good with directions, so all I need to do is I figure out the direction I need to go, and I normally can get there without further guidance (although I still like to have it).

And finally, clean panties… Who doesn’t need those?

Why is my list so short? Mainly because I realized that most things are replaceable with ease, even when you travel. As much as it may feel like I’m compelled to pack my entire closet, I normally pick an outfit a day, for summer – a suit, and then one dressed up outfit. That’s pretty much it.

I’ve gotten pretty efficient at packing and haven’t needed to buy anything and am packed in one small carry on. I normally only need something bigger when the family is coming.

  1. I am a super light packer when it comes to clothes and I always end up not having enough. I don't know why this has been such a chronic issue for me. haha!!

    1. LOL… I can only suggest writing down what you lack and put it in the suitcase. That way next time, you'll make sure yol at least pack that item. But it's a lot easier to build up than to pare down!

Hi April! I love to travel, but I'm only now learning to be a more efficient packer. I used to packed everything but the kitchen sink, and half of the things I packed never got used. I'm going to follow your lead and pack light next time I travel. I'm also going to keep a separate little bag of essentials. So many times you're frantic at the last minute, and you end up leaving small essential things behind. Great post!

    1. Especially with the fees that they apply today with the extra cargo, I try to pack just enough to put in the overhead compartment. I've gotten pretty efficient, rarely needing to pack and check baggage now.

  3. Here I thought I was the only one to do this, lol! I travel monthly for work so with my essentials already in my suitcase, all I need to do is throw in my clothing, shoes and jewelry. Thanks for linking up at My Favorite Posts Show Off Weekend Party!
